We’re Here To Help You Navigate Through Trucking Insurance. If You Don’t See Your Question Listed, Feel Free To Reach Out To Our Team For Assistance.

Drayage

What insurance do I need to operate at ports and rail yards?
You’ll need UIIA-compliant Auto Liability, General Liability, and Trailer Interchange coverage. Endorsements like UIIE-1 and CA23-17 are often required.
What is Trailer Interchange Insurance, and why is it important?
It covers physical damage to non-owned containers or chassis while under interchange agreements—required by most port authorities.
Do I need a DOT, MC number, and Tax ID for drayage?
Yes. Even local operators need a DOT number and Tax ID. An MC number is needed for interstate or intermodal moves.

Air Freight

Is cargo insurance required for air freight shipments?
It’s not legally required, but highly recommended. Carrier liability is limited and may not fully cover high-value goods.
What does air cargo insurance cover?
It covers loss or damage in transit. Some policies also include limited coverage for delays, theft, or rough handling.
How is my premium calculated?
Premiums are based on declared value, type of goods, route risk, and transport method.

Warehousing

What is Warehouse Legal Liability Insurance?
It protects you if third-party goods stored at your facility are damaged due to fire, water, theft, or mishandling.
What does warehouse legal cover and not cover?
It covers goods under your custody and control, but not property you own or damage from excluded perils like earthquakes (unless added).
How do warehouse contracts affect insurance coverage?
Your liability depends on the service agreement or warehouse receipt. We help you align coverage with those terms.

General Questions

How much Motor Truck Cargo Insurance do I need?
Enough to cover the full value of goods plus freight charges. Contracts often require $100K–$250K minimum.
What happens if I file a claim?
We guide you through the process. You’ll need documents like the bill of lading, delivery receipt, and invoice. Most claims resolve in 2 - 4 weeks.
Can I get higher coverage limits if I haul high-value cargo or operate in high-risk areas?
Yes, custom policies with Excess Liability or All-Risk Cargo can be arranged based on your needs.
